Over the years, Bezek • Durst • Seiser
has built an impressive team of architects, project managers,
CAD specialists, and support personnel.
Bob Bezek, CSI, Principal
Bob Bezek has practiced architecture continuously in Alaska
since 1970 and has a total of 37 years of architectural
experience. In 1981, he founded Bezek • Durst • Seiser.
As BDS’s senior partner, he remains actively involved
in day-to-day project responsibilities. He has been partner
in charge of many of our unique and complex projects,
including the U.S. Army Cold Regions Test Facility in
Fort Greely, Alaska, the Squadron Operations Facility
and Base Composite Engineering Facility for Kulis Air
National Guard Base, the award-winning Buckland K-12
School, and many others.
Bob is actively involved with several public commissions,
including the MOA Public Facilities Advisory Commission
and MOA Bid Review Committee, in addition to holding the
Vice-Chair office of the MOA Senior Citizens Advisory Commission.
He is also a professional member of the Construction Specifications
Institute and Society of American Military Engineers.
Dan Seiser, AIA, SCUP, Principal
Dan Seiser joined the firm in 1982. A lifelong Alaskan
with more than 32 years of experience, Dan is responsible
for contract management, client services, overall design,
and quality control oversight on the majority of our
projects. He has an extensive background in master planning,
programming, condition surveys, and concept design on
a variety of projects, including numerous University
of Alaska Fairbanks facilities such as the Biological
Research and Diagnostics Facility (BiRD), Natural Sciences
Facility, and Duckering Engineering Building. He also
manages our term contracts for UAF, FAA, and State of
Alaska DOT/PF. Dan is responsible for BDS’s participation
in the Mountain View Arts and Cultural District development.
Dan is an active member of several
organizations including the American Institute of Architects and the Society for
Campus and University Planning, and serves on the Out North
board of trustees. He is also a member of the Alaska AIDS
Assistance Association board of directors.
Scott Worthington, AIA, Principal
Scott Worthington joined BDS in 1999 as Project Manager
and Senior Architect. He is a licensed architect with
more than 18 years of Alaska architecture experience.
His thoughtful designs have won many awards. He is currently
Project Manager of Chugiak High School Renewal and Sitka
HS Performance Center & Auditorium. Scott is a LEED
Accredited Professional.
Victor Valenote, Associate Architect
Victor Valenote has more than 14 years of experience in
architecture. He graduated with a Master’s Degree
in Architecture and is an Alaska registered architect.
Prior to joining BDS in 2001, he won three school design
competitions in Florida and was the concept designer
for the new ASRC Corporate Headquarters and UAA/APU Consortium
Library. He was also awarded AIA’s Bronze Medal
for All Around Excellence in Architecture in 1999. Victor
has provided his design talent on many projects, most
notably on recent UAF projects.
Eric Spangler, Associate Architect
Eric Spangler joined BDS in 1998. He has a Master’s
Degree in Architecture and obtained his Alaska registration
in 2000. His education and natural talent, combined with
14 years of architectural and construction experience, make
him a valuable asset to the firm. Eric has proven his abilities
on many projects all over Alaska, including the new Palmer
Seed Lab and the Chugach Manor Senior Housing renovation.
He serves as Secretary for the U.S. Green Building Council
- Alaska Chapter.
Sarah Robicheaux, Architect
Sarah Robicheaux joined BDS in 2005.
She has a Bachelor of Architecture degree and over 9 years of experience in Alaska architecture. Sarah
is well-regarded for her diligent organization working on
projects, as well as her efficient use of time to complete
projects on schedule. Sarah is currently working on the design
of the Kenai Courthouse Expansion, Joann A. Alexie
Memorial K-12 School in Atmautluak, and the FAA Airport Tower in
Kodiak.
Nichelle Seely, Architect
Nichelle Seely joined BDS in April 2008. She has a
Master's of Architecture degree and is licensed in both Alaska
and Oregon, with 10 years of experience in residential,
institutional, and commercial design. Her work includes
elementary schools in Delta Junction, AK and Keizer, OR;
condominiums in Anchorage and Portland, assisted living
facilities in Yakima and The Dalles, and high end single family
homes on the Oregon coast.
Clark Yerrington, Architectural Designer
Clark Yerrington joined BDS in 2005. As an Architectural
Designer, Clark has over 23 years of experience in Alaska
architecture. He is a strong advocate for Anchorage's
Mountain View neighborhood, where he is a longtime resident.
Clark is a former Vice President of the Mountain View Community
Council, and a member of the Housing and Land Use Task Force
working on the Mountain View Neighborhood Plan. He is
currently working on the Mountain View Commerce Center, Abbott
Loop Community Church Master Plan / East Entry Renovation, and
Nelson Island Area K-12 School in Toksook Bay.
Thor Evenson, Architectural Designer
Thor Evenson has more than 31 years of experience as an
Architectural Designer and holds a Master’s Degree in
Architecture. Thor is a very gifted designer and is particularly
adept at developing design concepts and schematic renderings
for projects such as the Alaska Psychiatric Institute and
Dillingham’s Marrulut Eniit Assisted Living.
Evelyn Newhouse, CAD Specialist &
Assistant Designer
Evelyn Newhouse has more than nine years of experience
as a CAD Specialist and Assistant Designer. Since joining BDS in 1999, she has provided architectural support for
numerous projects, including specialized roofing expertise
for Tatitlek School, Whittier School, and Hillcrest Child
Center.
Claire Noll, Assistant Designer &
CAD Technician
Claire Noll is an Assistant Designer & CAD Technician.
A graduate of the University of Michigan, she has more
than eight years of experience and has provided architectural
support for major projects such as the Chugiak High School
Renewal and UAF Biological Research and Diagnostics Facility.
Claire is a founding member of the U.S. Green Building Council -
Alaska Chapter and is a LEED Accredited Professional.
Christopher Berryhill, Architectural
Support
Christopher Berryhill joined the firm in June 2008. While
new to the architectural field, Berryhill has been involved in
construction for 21 years. Originally from California, he has an
extensive background in cabinetry and contemporary furniture
design. Berryhill is actively pursuing a degree in technical
graphics, and will provide architectural support to the design
studio.
Lori Purviance, CFO & COO
Lori Purviance has been with the company since 1992. As
Chief Financial and Operating Officer, she is responsible
for overseeing BDS’s overall financial and operational
policies.
Jeremy Shiok, Business Development
Manager
Jeremy Shiok joined BDS in 2007. He has a Master of Fine
Arts degree in Creative Writing from the
University of Alaska Anchorage and seven years of
experience in Marketing and Business Development. Jeremy specializes in
writing for business, proposal development, contracts
quality management, and information
presentation design.
Linda Mugaas, Administrative Support
Professional
Linda Mugaas joined BDS in 2008. A 20+ year resident of
Anchorage, Linda brings a diverse professional skill set that
includes administrative functions in various industries. She has
also worked with various agencies throughout Anchorage to
support young people in need. Linda is responsible for
day-to-day client relations, administrative support functions
for all segments of the firm, and project support functions for
the architectural team.
