Bezek • Durst • Seiser has developed
an excellent reputation when it comes to educational facility
design. In fact, it may be what we are best known for. We have
worked as planners, programmers, and designers on nearly 200
learning facilities throughout the state of Alaska.
We understand what it takes to support the delivery of today’s
curriculum, and have a track record of using innovative
techniques to revitalize existing education facilities and
integrate new additions and new programs.
A Commitment to Raising the Bar
Our early experience included unique projects, such as Point
Lay K-12 School, that set standards for other rural school
projects. Today we continue to raise the bar with
projects such as Chugiak High School, which we are helping
to transform into a school for the 21st century.
The facilities we’ve designed include: general and specialized
classrooms, libraries, gymnasiums, multi-purpose rooms, laboratories,
computer / technology labs, libraries, performing arts centers,
administration and faculty offices, and food service facilities.
All of these projects have a common theme: create an effective
learning environment as well as a true center of the community.
To do this, we work closely with school districts and universities.
Together we develop plans focused on “use zoning” to
maximize space usage and flexibility, and to ensure the efficiency
of operations, management, and maintenance.
We consider every detail of a building, placing a special
emphasis on natural lighting, good acoustics, and sustainable
building systems and materials. And we design with careful
consideration of local environmental conditions.
The result? Educational facilities that are helping to take
learning to a new level.
