For the past 24 years, Bezek • Durst • Seiser
has been involved in the planning, design, and construction
of research, teaching, and quality control laboratory facilities
in Alaska. These types of projects require an in-depth understanding
of lab processes, as well as expert knowledge of specialized
lab equipment and building systems. Project by project, we’ve
built an impressive track record of delivering state-of-the-art
learning and research environments to a range of clients.
Designing for Academic Excellence
One of these clients is the University of Alaska
Fairbanks (UAF). Since 1983, we have designed and built more
than 200,000 square feet of assignable new or renovated research,
materials testing, teaching lab, and support spaces for UAF’s
science and engineering programs. Currently, we are involved
in two key UAF projects:
- Construction of a $24 million research
animal holding and diagnostics facility, designed by BDS
in association with nationally recognized SmithGroup
- Planning
for new research and teaching laboratories to serve the
university’s
nationally recognized biological science programs
Other academic projects include an award-winning high school
science learning facility we designed that features eight flexible
teaching labs, a greenhouse, small animal vivarium, and a planetarium.
Providing State of the Art to Alaska
Some of our most leading-edge work has been done
for the State of Alaska. Recently we completed a seed quality
certification lab for the Alaska Department of Natural Resources,
and we’re
in the concept planning phase for a new State of Alaska public
health lab with a Bio Safety Level-3 suite.
All of our projects share a common theme: a commitment to
design excellence and efficiency with a careful eye to budget
requirements. Along the way we develop close ties with the
client team, working together to ensure the project exceeds
expectations.
